More Water! Well, maybe not in the Frio, but every day brings us closer to a good rain and a nice rise on the river. At our annual meeting on January 14, Dick Earnest with Concan Water Supply discussed the severe water shortage we experienced last summer and out- lined plans to increase the water supply for all CCWSC customers. A major part of that solution is bringing a productive, previously, unused well online that is located across Highway 127 near the Visitors Center and adding an other well at that location. Hopefully, this additional water supply will prevent the water shortages and rationing times we experienced summer 2022. The COPOA Board and Concan Water Supply (CCWSC) recently entered into a long-term lease of a 75 x 75 pad at the corner of CR384 (River Road) and Mariposa Ave. This is the same site where the dilapidated carport structure was located across Mariposa from the fire station. The approximate 15 x 30 structure will house two 5,000 gallon storage tanks and a booster pump to supplement existing CCWSC wells. Treated water will be going into the tanks and treated water will be going out and no chemicals will be stored in the building. Dick Earnest and I began working on the lease details on Monday, Jan 16, and a special directors meeting was called on February 15 to discuss and review lease requirements. The lease was approved by a subsequent electronic vote. Mike Meadows and Terry Carson were recently appointed to fill two vacancies on the Concan Water Supply Board of Directors. To avoid any appearance of impropriety or conflict of interest, Mike and Terry abstained from voting on the lease approval.
